OUR METHOD
Crystal Coast Grapplers (formally Carteret County Grapplers) "CC Grapplers" is a USA Wrestling sanctioned, non-profit club in operation for over 20 years. It has one of the larger pre- high school memberships in the area. In March we start our Freestyle and Greco Training which includes 5th - 12th grade wrestlers.
The focus is on the fundamental movement skills needed to win later in the wrestler's career rather than teaching the high school level techniques that win kids tournaments today. The youngest kids have their own training group which is high on activity and teaching via contests and games. Explanations are simplified using analogies and visuals where possible. If you are going to be good at it you have to love it and if it is not fun that is not going to happen.
The Head Coach is a 3 time Division I Qualifier - Once as a wrestler and twice as a Coach. He previously coached and ran The Summit Wrestling Club for 17 years in Pennsylvania where his 2 sons were standouts. He is also the Coach at Broad Creek MS and assists at Croatan HS. Rest assured your child will receive the knowledge and enthusiasm that level of experience and involvement brings.

We participate in tournaments for those ready for higher levels of competition. The emphasis is on the improvement in fundamentals. Kids are allowed to be kids but still respect others when it comes to creating distractions and being a good partner. Practice typically finishes with a game the wrestlers look forward to.
